South Side High School/
RVC Soccer Club Soccer Kick-off
Village residents are invited to come and join the spirited RVC community and support local teams at the annual soccer kickoff on Sept. 11 at the Dean Skelos Sports Complex, beginning at 5:30. There will be a barbecue hosted by the SSHS Booster Club and two games: at 6 p.m. SSHS Boys vs. Baldwin; at 8 p.m. SSHS Girls vs. Garden City. For information call

Mass for Deceased Children
The 21st annual Mass will be held in St. Agnes Cathedral on Sept. 12 at 12:30 p.m. and will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. James McNamara. All are welcome to come early to inscribe the child’s name in the “Book of Families.” Refreshments will be served in the Parish Center following the service. For information, call (516) 764-0681.

International Day of Peace
Join Divine Yoga in celebrating the event on Sept. 20 on the front lawn of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 200 Hempstead Ave.Visit the “Pinwheel Design Center,” open from noon - 4 p.m. to design and create your own Pinwheel for Peace for planting in the church’s “Peace Garden.” On Sept. 21, which is the International Day of Peace, the garden will be open all day. Yoga with Joe
1 p.m. Lyengar yoga instructor Joe Cilmi will be on hand to lead students through this popular exercise class. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a soft towel or yoga mat. Summer Basketball League

2009-10 Nursery School
Designed to meet the needs of the community, the Rec center is again offering its nursery school programs that have operated continuously for 47 years. Prospective students may visit with their parents. Call the Rec. Dept. office at (516) 678-9339 to make arrangements. Eligibility: Pre K- for those entering kindergarten in Sept. 2010. Pre-Pre K for those entering kindergarten in Sept. 2011. Class offerings: PreK I classes 9-11:20 a.m. (5 days per week) ; PreK II classes 12:15-2:45 pm. (3 days per week); Pre-Pre K I classes 9-11:30 a.m. (4 days per week): Pre-Pre K II classes 12:15 p.m.-2:45 p.m. (2 days per week). Registration is now being accepted for residents and non-residents. Openings are limited.

Sandel Senior Men’s Club
The club meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 10:00am for breakfast and business. At 11:00 am, when available, guest speakers discuss topics of interest to men. A variety of trips and programs are scheduled.

RVC Basketball League to hold registration

The Rockville Centre Basketball League is a recreation league that offers guaranteed playing time while teaching basketball fundamentals and good sportsmanship. The dates, times and locations for registration for the 2009 – 10 season are listed below. Please be aware that anyone registering after Sept. 22 may be placed on a waiting list.
