The association’s next general meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. at Malverne Public Library.
Malverne Village Board
The board’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall on Church Street.
MOM meeting
The Mothers of Malverne will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5 at Malverne Village Hall. The group meets monthly from September to June to provide a social and support network for mothers of young children as well as events for kids.

Sunday Brunch
The Malverne Historical and Preservation Society’s annual Sunday Brunch will be on Sunday, Jan. 25 at noon at the Cork ‘n Board in Malverne. There will be raffles and door prizes. The cost is $18 per person and reservations are required.
Annual luncheon
The NAACP’s Long Island Coalition of Branches will be hosting its ninth annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Suffolk Community College’s Health, Sports and Education Center at 11:30 a.m. The event will give officials the opportunity to recognize civil rights pioneers and those who have had a significant role in the NAACP. Lakeview resident Rener Reed has been selected as this year’s honoree.

Book Club
A Tuesday Night Book Club will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. A new evening book club forming. Please come and join the library for an evening of introduction, conversation and decision making. This will be an introductory meeting where future selections will be discussed.
Craft for the kids
A K-2nd Grade Story and Craft will be held on Wednesdays, Jan. 21 and 28 and Feb. 4, 11 and 25 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Come to the library to listen to some great books and participate in a craft activity.
Chess Workshop
Teens in fifth to 12 grade are invited to attend a chess workshop on Monday, Jan. 26. Beginner players will learn basic chess moves and advanced players can improve their game strategy. Matinee Movie
An afternoon movie will be shown every Monday at 2 p.m. “Elizabeth, the Golden Age” will be shown on Jan. 26, “Mamma Mia” will be shown on Feb. 2, “Made of Honor” will be shown on Feb. 9 and “The Women” will be shown on Feb. 23.
Legal issues class for seniors
A Legal Affecting the Senior Population class will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Chocolate madness
A Chocolate Tasting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. Come join the library for an evening of chocolate exploration and education. The cost is $4.
Music time
A PlayHooray Toddler and Me program will be held on Friday, Jan. 30 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Come to the library to sing, dance and PlayHooray with your child. This 45-minute themed program is for kids ages 18 months to 4.
Tax class
A AARP Tax-Aide program for taxpayers with special attention to those 50 or older will be held on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tax return assistance will be provided by experienced individuals.
Valentine’s Day Craft time
A Bear Hug Valentine’s Day Craft for children ages 2 1/2 to 5 who are not yet in kindergarten will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. A Grade K-6 Valentine’s Day Craft will be held on Monday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

A Dance Dance Revolution program will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Come to the library to play this popular music video program.

Computer class
A Computer Kindergarten program will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Playtime
A Parenting and Playtime program will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is an informal workshop for a parent or caregiver and a child who is 1 to 3.
Be strong
A Simply Stronger program will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 7 to 8 p.m. A certified personal trainer leads this low impact exercise class. The cost is $16.
Winter craft
A Snowflake Mobile program will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Children in grades first through fifth can create a snowflake mobile with foam core, tissue, markers and bubble wrap.

Pilates
A Pilates Pilot Program will be held on Thursdays, Jan. 15, 22 and 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. Physical therapist and certified pilates instructor Velma Davis-Wheeler will focus on beginner Pilates exercises. Participants need a Pilate’s mat and a pair of 2 or 3 pound weights.

A Simply Stronger program will be held on Thursdays, Jan. 15, 22 and 29 from 2 to 3 p.m. This strength-training class will include discussions, overview of warm ups and more.
